The Village of Westfield was awarded $4.5 million by New York State through the 3rd round of the NY Forward program!
The NY Forward (NYF) program is a comprehensive initiative to invigorate and enliven downtowns in New York’s smaller and rural communities—the types of places found in villages, hamlets, and neighborhood-scale municipal centers. NY Forward builds on the success of New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) by following the same “Plan-then-Act” approach. Now in its third year, the NYF program has awarded a total of $200 million to 43 communities across the State. The $4.5 million awarded to Westfield will directly support the planning and implementation needed to attract new businesses, welcome residents and visitors, and enhance overall quality of life for the entire community.

Westfield Overview
The Village of Westfield, nestled in northern Chautauqua County near the shores of Lake Erie, is a historic and vibrant community known for its scenic beauty, agricultural roots, and charming downtown. Located at the crossroads of U.S. Route 20 and NYS Route 394, and minutes from Interstate 90, Westfield is home to an active arts and culture scene, local wineries, and rich architectural heritage.
With support from New York State’s NY Forward program, Westfield is poised to unlock its full potential as a dynamic destination for commerce, culture, and community life. The $4.5 million award will build on recent momentum—including the continued growth of agritourism, enhancements to Moore Park, and investment in historic preservation—to create a vibrant, year-round downtown. Planned improvements to housing, commercial spaces, public amenities, and cultural venues will help ensure Westfield thrives as a place to live, work, and visit for generations to come.
